has the system been in use?
Q. Why screen?
A. 33% of seniors fall annually. Screening helps identify
those patients that are likely to fall before they suffer
a serious fall related injury.
Q. Why test?
A. Most patients that suffer from vestibular dysfunction
are asymptomatic. Inner ear disorders are the leading
cause of falls. Effective treatments exist for balance and
dizziness issues…when correctly diagnosed.
Q. How long do the tests take to complete? When do we get the results?
A. The tests take anywhere between 3 and 25 minutes
depending on the system. All tests provide immediate
results that are simple to interpret.
Q. Who can perform?
A. Typically, an MA will perform the tests as well as
printout the results and data interpretation.
Q. Training?
A. Test training takes a few hours. We provide a
step-by-step guide that anyone can follow without any
training.
Q. Equipment, size?
A. All systems come in a portable carrying case that can
be transported between rooms and offices if needed. The
VAT-ENG and VATplus systems come complete with a laptop,
printer and enough electrode supplies for up to 40 tests.
Q. Disposables per
test? Cost?
A. Electrodes costs approximately $3.50 per patient per
test. They can purchased through us or through your
medical supply company.
Q. Do I retest?
A. Yes, you have the option of re-testing after treatments/rehabilitation
have been completed.
Q. Is this VNG
and/or Calorics?
A. No, the systems that we offer do not use VNG or
Calorics. You do have the ability to do Caloric testing
with the software that comes with the system if you decide
later on.
Q. How long
has the system been in use?
A. The VAT system was developed in 1986, the VAT-ENG in
1992. MotionTrak has been in use since 2006.
